Lake Vrutci

The lake is 8 km long and is located at 700 m.n.m. It was built in 1984 as a multi-purpose accumulation. In addition to its economic importance, it has a protective function and a role in the improvement of small waters downstream from the dam. It is a concrete arch dam of the dome type with a double curve, 77 m high and 241 m long.
The water in the lake is extremely clean, it is suitable for swimming from mid-May to mid-September. The following fish species are represented: beovica (rabbit), krkuša, chub, krupatica, bodorka, deverika, skobalj, trout, bandar, babushka, carp, silver carp and catfish. The average water temperature in summer is 25 ° C.

In order to protect the quality of water in the spring, the following zones of sanitary protection of the water supply source are:
Accumulation zone I – includes the lake at the level of maximum deceleration of water and the coastal area in the width of 10 m in the horizontal projection from the elevation of maximum deceleration;
Disposal of all types of waste, cage fish farming, access to motor vehicles, watering livestock and the use of manure and mineral fertilizers and chemical plant protection products are prohibited.
Accumulation zone II – includes the area whose width is 500 m in the horizontal projection from the border of zone I accumulation around the lake;
The exploitation of stone, gravel, sand and all other mining works is prohibited. The formation of municipal waste landfills, expansion and formation of new cemeteries is prohibited.
It is allowed to arrange pedestrian-excursion, bicycle and fishing trails, as well as the planned arrangement of the reservoir coast (for rest areas and lookouts – ecological points in the function of source protection and tourist-recreational presentation of the reservoir and access to sport fishing grounds), with prior obtaining public water management opinion companies and permits of the competent body of the local self-government unit.
III zone of accumulation – includes the area outside the narrower zone of sanitary protection up to the border of the surface, above-ground basin of the accumulation.
Uncontrolled disposal of municipal and other waste, establishment of transfer stations and temporary solid waste landfills, commercial storage of oil and oil derivatives, storage of hazardous substances and substances that must not be directly or indirectly introduced into water are not allowed. It is not allowed to build and operate industrial, mining-metallurgical and other facilities and perform works that may endanger the health of water.
The construction of residential, economic, catering, commercial and tourist facilities is allowed. The construction of proper, sanitary-safe facilities for the collection and storage of solid and liquid manure for households is mandatory.
For the needs of tourist and recreational use of the accumulation basin, the realization of excursion, fishing, pedestrian, bicycle paths and other accompanying infrastructure and sanitary provided smaller facilities for the needs of information and rest of tourists (rest areas, lookouts, restaurants, shelters, etc.) is allowed.

The Great Dam is an artificial lake made for the needs of the Weaving Workshop, as part of the system of the hydroelectric power plant in Turica, which was officially put into operation on January 1, 1929. It is built of compacted concrete, 18 m high and 41 m wide. Today the lake is used for fishing, swimming and kayaking.
