The gorge of Djetinja as a landscape of extraordinary landscape diversity, beauty, and attractiveness, in the part where the river emerges from the impressive canyon and becomes wider and calmer, is an ideal place for recreational kayaking.
Interested visitors 2020 can enjoy several hours of kayaking in the calm waters of the lake upstream from the Great Dam to the site Sunčani vir and back, in the length of 900m.
Ten two-seater kayaks with accompanying equipment are available for rent, which are rented at the info point near the Great Dam. The working hours of the info point are from April to October, from 10 am to 8 pm every working day and from 9 am to 8 pm on weekends.

No previous rowing experience is required to ride a kayak on the Djetinja river. Kayaks are stable and easy to manage. All kayaks are designed for two people with the possibility of installing an auxiliary middle seat for a child. Rental of kayaks and monitoring of use is done by persons who, before going on the water, take a short course on kayak management.
Kayaks on the Great Dam are driven exclusively in summer. Along with the kayak, two oars and vests are rented for all users. Due to the entry of water into the kayak, it is best to wear clothes that dry quickly. It is necessary to put mobile phones in waterproof bags. From footwear, slippers or sneakers are recommended. If it is very warm, do not forget glasses, hat or cap as well as sunscreen with UV factor.
Since the establishment of conditions for kayaking on the great dam, the safety of users is in the first place. Recreational kayaking is organized in accordance with safety standards, and the equipment has all the necessary certification. All users are insured against accidents.
