Jelova Gora mountain belongs to the group of Maljensko-povlenskih mountains in the Dinaric mountain system. It is located nine kilometers northeast of the city of Uzice. Jelova Gora is a densely forested undulating plateau, with an area of about 20 square kilometers and an average altitude of 850 meters. The dominant peaks are: Đakov kamen (1,003 m), Presedo, Ozkolište and Zborište.
It is rich in watercourses with a lot of spring water (Jovanova Voda, Batina Voda, Izvorak, Studenac, and Samadzinac, which is better known as Desanka’s fountain). The largest river is Tatalija, which flows into Skrapez after merging with the river Tmusa. It has the most beech, hornbeam, birch, and aspen, and the least oak forests. In recent times, larger areas are covered with pine, fir, spruce, spruce, and mountain cypress. This mountain beauty is widely known for its blueberries and, in its part, a celebration is organized at the end of August – Blueberry Days. Jelova Gora is a mountainous zone, rich and diverse in hunting game. The most numerous are deer, and there are also foxes, rabbits, martens, badgers, and a large number of forest birds.
The concentration of tourist and catering facilities is on the plateau, below Zboriste, where the resort of the Ministry of the Interior is located and numerous weekend houses. The mountain is still not sufficiently activated for tourist purposes, but due to its richness of beautiful landscapes, it is recognized as a significant resort for the city’s population. Harmoniously integrated meadows, picturesque meadows, and forests, the beauty of unspoiled nature, and clean mountain air make this resort very attractive.
So far, the trails Jovanova Voda – Djakov Kamen – Kadinjaca, then Uzice – Djakov Kamen, and return trails along the other route have been marked, as well as the Motel trail on Jelova Gora – Brdo Grad located above Kosjeric and return trails of the same length. The total length of all these trails in both directions is 56 kilometers.
